Fantastic news for past me, hot off the presses! If you look around in my "Crap Old Stuff" folder in my gallery, you'll find my amusement at this little number from my first attempt at crocheting.

And I am thrilled to announce that now that I've taken up crochet and knitting in the past few years, I'm actually pretty good at it!

BTW I still occasionally use this page

hello pen pressure.

It's very small (6.0 x 3.7 active area) but I like it a lot!

So I'm not...entirely a fan of dA's community, aside from the couple friends I know are lying around somewhere. Tumblr's easier for me to work with; despite having been on dA longer, I understand tumblr's layout and coding and stuff better than I do deviantArt's. So I was thinking I might move most of my art activity over to tumblr, including Auran pages.

But I want some feedback from those aforementioned random friends lying around:

-should I keep posting Auran pages here, at least, for you guys' sake if you don't want to follow the tumblr/don't have a tumblr? if not, cool, just say the word.
-i would still be hanging around dA to keep an eye on some of my favorite artists and talk to people + participate in any fun activities going around.

The new Auran tumblr blog has a theme equipped called "Simple Webcomic Theme," which is Exactly What It Says On The Tin. Once I start posting comic pages to it, you'll be able to easily click through with pretty "first, previous, next, last" buttons. Tumblr also lets me set up a separate About and Characters page, and I can answer anonymous questions through my regular art/sketch blog. The comic is still just a "for-fun" side project, of course, which is why it's sticking to tumblr and not, say, an actual website.

Anyway, here's the blogs you should go check out to see future comic pages and ask questions about the Auran world:

auran-comic -- the actual comic, with About and Characters pages set up as of right now [no actual comic pages have been posted to it yet]
mort-draws -- ask questions about Auran and company, and I'll answer with a little sketch! Even if you don't have a tumblr/prefer not to attach the question to your account, you can still ask anonymous questions. Also where I'll be posting notices about comic updates, as well as most of the rest of my artwork.

Okay so for those of you don't know, I've had a Flight Rising account since April 2014. My username is Mort over there, ID #61896 if anyone else out there has an account and wants to go stare at my pixel dragons.

In other news, I've set up a sketch blog on tumblr, which is where I'll be posting all my FR-related artwork, as well as practical art-improvement stuff and silly sketches. So if you want to see more of my daily artwork than what I have here, go follow that. I'll obviously still be posting stuff here; but not the fanart and not the crap art. I'll upload only pieces I really like to dA, and of course the Auran comic pages whenever I get around to working on those some more.

Anyway, here's my new sketch blog: mort-draws.tumblr.com

So I went with...option C for the intro. It continues with some more intro-ish dialogue, and then the next page really starts off with character movement and the main story.

But here, have a WIP of page 3 from a while ago. I've started the inking process (after drawing a crap ton of pine trees which are probably all going to get covered up by dialogue anyway ha), so I'm actually a lot farther along on this page than it looks. I'm stuck on page 4 for the moment as I try to figure out what poses and scenes I want in the panels...

WIP of one of the next pages I have planned out for my Auran comic. This page is mainly just to show off the size differences between Auran and his teacher, Conozco. Auran and Conozco are both spirit sanctuaries, meaning that those markings on their sides are a sign that they are the host for some spiritual force. Conozco is the host for a three-headed water dragon spirit (haven’t decided on a name for him yet). Auran is host to the dragon spirit of darkness, Xia (but doesn’t know it at the time of this page).
